Zeronet charging guide

ZeroNet is a national network of pay-as-you-go charge points, created by the Zero Carbon World charity for the hospitality industry.

There are no membership fees or access systems, with locations able to set their fees should they wish – though Zero Carbon World encourages businesses to keep charging free.

How much does the ZeroNet network cost?

Membership cost: None

Cost per charge: Dependent on point owner – contact beforehand to check pricing

Many points free for destination’s customers

To discover how much it will cost to charge an EV from Zero Carbon World public charge point (where applicable), head to Zapmap’s Public Charging Calculator. This allows you to select any new or used plug-in vehicle, and tailor elements – such as electricity cost and charge required – for personalised results.

How to use the ZeroNet network

zeronet access

No need for RFID cards or apps. Each point location allows drivers to just plug in and charge. The majority of charge points use Type 2 connectors, though there are also points on the network which use the Commando charging standard. Where found, these are typically paired with three-pin sockets.

Finding ZeroNet on Zap-Map

zeronet filters

All ZeroNet charge points can be found on Zapmap by using the network filter. This can be used on the desktop and mobile apps, and displays only those points that come under the ZeroNet umbrella.

Charging types and speeds can be filtered too, showing only those points that are compatible with users’ cars.

About ZeroNet

ZeroNet has been set up by the Zero Carbon World charity as part of its brief to provide clear decarbonisation messages. Charge points are donated to the charity, with these then made available to businesses in the hospitality industry to apply for.

The intention is that businesses are then able to provide charging for EV drivers while they stay, eat, or relax, with the added convenience for drivers making it more likely that they will choose that particular destination to visit.
