Pay for charging with a tap
Once your Hive EV charger has been installed you'll be sent a Hive Charging Card which you can use to pay for public charging at thousands of Zap-Pay enabled charge points, nationwide. You can easily find eligible charge points using the 'Payment' filter in the app.
Charge for free, at home and away
New Hive customers can combine their £20 Zapmap charging credit with Hive’s FreeCharge offer to enjoy free charging at home, and on the road!

How to get your free Zapmap credit
- Buy a Hive EV charger - once installed, you’ll receive an email with an activation code and a Hive Charging Card in the post.
- Activate your Hive Charging Card - you can follow the instructions in the email to activate your credit and then activate your card in the Zapmap app.
- You’re ready to go - use your £20 credit at any Zap-Pay enabled charge point with your Hive Charging Card or using the Zapmap app.

Activating your Hive Charging Card
To activate your Hive Charging Card open the app, tap the settings icon and select the ‘Charging card’ option. Tap ‘Activate card’. You will be prompted to add a payment method to the app. Once you’ve added a payment method, enter the card number on your charging card to complete the process.
If you lose your Hive Charging Card, you can freeze it in the ‘Charging card’ section of the app. To request a replacement please contact our support team.
*Your £20 charging credit equates to an average of 100 miles of free charging. That assumes 4 miles per kWh (based on a Volkswagen ID3) at 81p per kWh via a rapid or ultra rapid charger, as per Zapmap’s 2025 price index. Actual mileage may vary depending on your vehicle capacity.
