Be.EV, has partnered with Maple Grove Developments to install 12 ultra-rapid electric vehicle (EV) charging bays at the Hattersley Trade Park in Greater Manchester.

Be.EV will invest £892,000 to deliver the new charging hub, which will future-proof the trade park as the EV transition continues to pick up steam.

A record 69,000 new EVs were registered in March and these drivers are increasingly looking for ultra-rapid EV charging hubs at convenient places near main roads on longer journeys.

The site at Hattersley Trade Park, which is due to go live in June 2026, is situated just off the A57 in Hattersley and sees an average flow of over 22,000 vehicles every day. The chargers will provide up to 165 miles of range in a short 20-minute stop, which will be perfect for drivers looking to grab a drink from the Costa Coffee drive-thru or pick up some food from the Aldi on-site.

This EV charging hub is part of a wider regeneration of the Hattersley area being led by Tameside Council, Onward Homes, Homes England and Onward Home, being led by over £14 million of investment to build hundreds of new homes. This development also includes a £4 million investment from Barratt Homes to provide public infrastructure such as playgrounds and improvements to natural spaces, gateways and parking. The EV charging hub fits in well with these public infrastructure upgrades, providing a great spot for new local residents to quickly top up their EVs.

Be.EV is using EV charging hubs to help regenerate a number of areas across the UK, including investing £4m to build the Manchester Charging Oasis, the charging hub of the future, which is supporting local economic growth and development in Failsworth.

Asif Ghafoor, CEO of Be.EV, comments:

“This site is perfectly positioned to attract the large number of families who visit Hattersley Trade Park daily for shopping and leisure. It’s a win for retailers too - they get EV charging for free and while driving additional customers directly to their stores.

“Maple Grove Developments is leading the way in recognising the long-term value of investing in EV charging. It’s future-proofing the trade park by installing chargers now, as it’s ensuring it meets the needs of the thousands of electric vehicles passing by each day - a figure that will only rise as EV adoption continues to grow.”

Be.EV charge points can be found, each with a live status, on the Zapmap app and web map. Payment for charging can also be made easily within the Zapmap app.
