National electric vehicle (EV) charging network Be.EV is the latest operator to go live on Zap-Pay, the simple way to pay for EV charging across networks from Zapmap.

With a network of predominantly rapid and ultra-rapid chargers across England and Wales, Be.EV is now live as one of Zapmap’s payment partners.

The new partnership makes paying for charging much easier for electric car drivers in Greater Manchester and other areas across England and Wales, thanks to the charge point operator’s network of local charging options, often installed in conjunction with Local Authorities.

A community-first public charging network that operates the largest network of public EV chargers in Greater Manchester, Be.EV is working to open the Charging Greens of the future across the UK in sites ideally located to serve local communities.

The company currently operates over 700 charge points at around 180 locations across England and Wales, with the majority concentrated in and around Greater Manchester. As part of a nationwide expansion plan, Be.EV is on track to have a network of over 1,000 charge points by the end of 2024.

Be.EV has a network of predominantly rapid and ultra-rapid chargers in England and Wales.

In July, the operator continued its network expansion into the Midlands, opening the fastest charging location in Chesterfield. Be.EV already shared a live data partnership with Zapmap, meaning users of the Zapmap app can see live status updates on Be.EV twenty-four seven.

The new payment partnership means Zapmap users can now pay quickly and easily for their charging on Be.EV’s network of charge points, as well as being able to search for charge points, plan longer journeys and share updates with other electric car drivers,

The charge point operator joins live payment partners Osprey, ESB Energy, char.gy, GeniePoint, Mer, MFG EV Power, Fastned, Alfa Power, Connected Kerb, evyve, Charge My Street, Applegreen Electric and FOR EV in making payment easy for electric car drivers up and down the country.

Zapmap’s in-app payment solution Zap-Pay uses a credit or debit card to pay for charging, and was launched with a mission to include all the key charge point networks across the UK. The payment solution avoids the hassle of using different payment methods across all the various charge point operators, providing a simple way to pay for EV charging across networks from within the familiar Zapmap app.

Hayley Thompson from Webuyanycar, who used Zap-Pay to complete a trip from Scotland to Cornwall to raise money for GOSH charity, said: “Zap-Pay has been brilliant. It’s been really user-friendly, and I’m not much of a tech wizard. To be able to look at where I need to go and filter for specific points such as Zap-Pay chargers or rapid chargers has been really good.”

Drivers using Zap-Pay are also able to view their charging history, receive live status updates while away from their vehicle, and download receipts to help keep track of their spending. To facilitate easy payment, they can also use both Apple Pay and Google Pay on all Zap-Pay enabled devices across the UK.

“We pride ourselves on making charging as smooth as possible. This integration makes the Be.EV charging experience even more seamless, as EV drivers can now locate and pay for a Be.EV charger without leaving the Zapmap app.

“Zap-Pay is trusted by EV drivers across the UK, and we’re pleased it’s committed to expanding its customers’ access to rapid and ultra-rapid charging across the North West and beyond.”
