Charge points in Luton have been upgraded by Chargemaster, after the EV charging company took over running of the units following the Source East network’s closure at the end of March. The new points have been added to the Luton-based firm’s Polar network.
As part of Chargemaster’s £15 million investment into the Polar network, the units are part of Luton Borough Council’s EV charging infrastructure. Five locations have been upgraded already, with one more set to be completed soon.
The council’s units are the first post-Source East network points to be upgraded by Chargemaster, and the company is offering any legacy point owners formerly on the regional network free upgrades, amongst other proposals.
David Martell, Chargemaster CEO, said: “We are very pleased to work with Luton Borough Council to ensure local EV drivers are able to rely on the public charging network in the area. We are committed to expanding our Polar network and properly maintaining it, so that the nation’s charging infrastructure reflects the needs of the growing number of EV owners.”
