Cotswold District Council has announced that the rapid charging point in Beeches Car Park in Cirencester is now repaired and online, after it was vandalised.
This is the second rapid charge point to be switched on by the council. The other was recently unveiled up the A429 in Moreton-in-Marsh. Both units are multi-standard (CHAdeMO, CCS and Mennekes) rapid chargers and are operated by Charge Your Car.
Chris Hancock, the district Cabinet Member for Enterprise and Partnerships, said:“This is a great day for the Cotswolds now that we have two charging fronts up and running. The launch of the first point at Moreton was a significant milestone, but now that we also have a hub in Cirencester we can proudly claim that we are providing an important strategic link between charging points on the M4, M5 and M40. Electric vehicle drivers can now be reassured that they are being provided with charging points in both the north and south of the District, and this should boost our tourism and hospitality industry.”
The charge points have a £4 “charge and park fee” and EV drivers will need either a CYC membership or their mobile app to access the points.
Those with a rapid compatible EV will generally be able to gain an 80% charge for their vehicle in less than 30 minutes using these charge units.
