Electric vehicle (EV) charging in Martlesham just got a whole lot faster, with the opening of Fastned’s 14th UK charging location, situated just off the A12 at Martlesham Park & Ride – ideally placed to cater to commuters on their way to, through, and from Ipswich.
Powered by 100% renewable energy, the six new charging points can charge at up to 300kW, providing EVs with up to 300 miles of range in as little as 20 minutes depending on the make and model.
“Drivers in East Anglia can finally benefit from the UK’s best-rated EV charging experience,” said Tom Hurst, UK Country Manager for Fastned, commenting on the new charging hub.
“We are excited to welcome drivers from Martlesham and beyond to our highly visible, easy-to-use ultra-rapid charging sites and get them back on the road!”
The new devices feature a highly visible solar canopy that helps EV drivers to locate the site and stay dry while charging. Consumers can also be confident in the reliability of the ultra-rapid charging networks, as Fastned was ranked joint-first place in Zapmap’s annual public charging network satisfaction survey.
Charging session payment is easy too, with Fastned devices taking Zap-Pay, the simple way to pay for charging across networks from within the Zapmap app.
“Helping people move away from petrol and diesel vehicles is a key part of our plan for a cleaner, greener Suffolk and will need business and government to work closely together,” said Therese Coffey MP, Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and constituency MP for Suffolk Coastal, who attended to officially launch the new chargers.
“Investment in infrastructure will be key, which is why I’m delighted to open Fastned’s newest charging station here in Martlesham – the fastest way to charge in Suffolk,” Coffey continued.
“Forward thinking projects such as this will secure the future of sustainable transport and provide cleaner air across the UK.”
Fastned plans to open further UK charging locations over the course of 2023.
