Heathrow Airport has announced that it will install more than 135 new charge points as it is set to increase the use of EVs in and around the airfield. The plans to “Go Electric” involve a £2 million investment over the course of the next few years.
Some of the new chargers will add to the 21 points currently available free of charge at the airport’s short-stay car parks and will be available for the public to use. The rest will be used by the airport’s working vehicles, with a recent £250,000 investment improving the mix of zero-emission vehicles in the airport’s 400 strong fleet.
The company that runs Heathrow plans to increase EV usages as part of its commitment to reduce emissions levels at the site and will soon be able to charge more than 260 EVs at the same time.
