Vauxhall and Tesco have announced a partnership to provide a year of free electric vehicle (EV) charging to new Vauxhall customers who purchase an electric Vauxhall car or van directly from a Vauxhall retailer or through its online store.

Tesco currently stands as the largest supermarket charging network, with over 2,700 Pod Point EV charging connectors across 619 of its stores.

While the charge points will remain available for use for all EV drivers, all 2,700 charging bays across Tesco stores will be updated with Vauxhall & Tesco co-branded livery.

“We want to encourage our customers to make sustainable choices too, such as moving to EVs,” said Clare Gregorio, Head of Retail partnerships at Tesco.

Pod Point offers a mixture of 7kW, 22kW, 50kW and 75kW charging stations; these destination-style charge points available at supermarkets give customers the flexibility to top-up or fully recharge their battery depending on length of stay and choice of unit used.

“As EV sales continue to grow, access to practical charging continues to be a hot topic to ensure the UK can continue along its electrification journey, whether at home, on-street or at a required destination,” said James Taylor, Managing Director, Vauxhall.

Find Pod Point chargers easily within the Zapmap app or on the desktop map by filtering by network.

Pod Point currently offers charging at the following rates:

  • 7kW chargers: 44p/kWh
  • 22kW chargers:  49p/kWh
  • 50kW chargers:  62p/kWh
  • 75kW chargers: 69p/kWh.
