Zap-Map, the UK’s leading electric vehicle mapping service, is delighted to announce that it has appointed an interim CEO and Commercial Director as part of an expansion of its senior leadership team.
The Zap-Map Board identified the requirement for further commercial and strategic leadership in order to best consider long-term opportunities, position the business for scale and continue to develop commercial propositions. The appointments therefore represent the next phase in executing Zap-Map’s growth strategy.
Richard Bourne has been appointed as interim CEO and will work alongside the Zap-Map Board to develop the long-term strategic plan, positioning the business for scale and potential fundraising. Richard is a dynamic, start-up to scale-up business leader who has operated across a broad range of industries. He has a proven track record of developing and executing sophisticated and disruptive go-to-market strategies to deliver high-revenue growth and value creation in venture capital and private equity backed companies. This includes previous roles as CEO at Stratto Ltd and senior positions at Cisco, Ubiquisys, Ericsson and Marconi.
Alex Earl has been appointed as Commercial Director. Alex will be focused on driving continued growth of new revenues and services to Zap-Map’s chosen markets and working in collaboration with the founders and board to embed commercial strategy, delivery, and target success. Alex has over 20 years’ experience in a range of commercial roles, with the past ten years in electric mobility most recently setting up Alfen’s business in the UK as their UK Country Manager and previously helping to start up New Motion as its Head of Product and Energy.
The five-person Board of Zap-Map consists of Juliet Davenport, Founder and CEO of Good Energy and Chair of Zap-Map, Tim Jones independent NED from the Good Energy Group plc Board, Charlie Parry from Good Energy, alongside the two founders of Zap-Map being Ben Lane, CTO, and Melanie Shufflebotham, COO. Good Energy has a 50.1% majority stake in Zap-Map’s parent company Next Green Car Limited.
Juliet Davenport, CEO and Founder, Good Energy and Chair of Zap-Map, said:
“Richard and Alex join at a crucial inflection point for the decarbonisation of transport. Their experience will help Zap-Map take the next leap in its exciting growth story and reinforce itself as a leading player in the EV market in the UK and beyond.”
Richard Bourne, interim CEO at Zap-Map, said:
“I’m delighted to join the Zap-Map team and have the opportunity to accelerate the go-to-market strategy in one of the most exciting companies in the UK. As a key enabler in the EV ecosystem, Zap-Map’s ability to help all EV drivers to seamlessly search for charge points, plan their journeys and easily pay will be a crucial step in the mass adoption of electric vehicles.”
