Electric vehicle (EV) charging network EVC is the latest network to go live on Zap-Pay, the simple way to pay for EV charging across networks from Zapmap.

As of September, EVC, with its nationwide network of chargers, is now fully up and running on Zap-Pay. Thanks to the charge point operator’s network of fast and rapid charging devices found at convenient locations from hotels to apartment blocks, retail parks to service stations, the new partnership makes paying for destination charging much easier for electric car drivers up and down the country.

Established in 2020, EVC has ambitious plans to grow its network of convenient, practical and reliable destination charging options for its growing customer base, focusing on hospitality, leisure and retail venues, workplaces and multi-dwelling residential units. Having secured a substantial £165 million investment in 2023, EVC is already accelerating the rollout of accessible EV charging stations across the UK.

Consequently, as well as being able to search for charge points, plan longer journeys and share updates with other EV drivers, Zapmap users can now pay quickly and easily for their charging on EVC’s network of charge points, which are ideally placed for topping up whilst parked at a destination.

As of September, EVC, with its nationwide network of chargers, is now fully up and running on Zap-Pay.

The charge point operator is the 16th Zap-Pay partner, joining Osprey, ESB Energy, char.gy, GeniePoint, Mer, MFG EV Power, Fastned, Alfa Power, Connected Kerb, evyve, Charge My Street, Applegreen Electric, FOR EV, Be.EV, and PoGo Charge in making payment easy for electric car drivers up and down the country.

Launched with a mission to include all the key charge point networks across the UK, Zap-Pay is a single-app payment solution that uses a credit or debit card to pay for charging.

The payment solution avoids the hassle of using different payment methods across all the various networks, providing a simple way to pay for EV charging across networks from within the familiar Zapmap app.

Drivers using Zap-Pay are also able to view their charging history, receive live status updates while away from their vehicle, and download receipts to help keep track of their spending. To facilitate easy payment, they can also use both Apple Pay and Google Pay on all Zap-Pay enabled devices across the UK.

With EVC’s charging network now live on Zap-Pay, today’s announcement represents a positive step towards convenient and simple charging for electric car drivers across the UK.

Matt Lloyd, Head of CPO Networks at Zapmap, said:

“I’m delighted that EVC is now live as our newest Zap-Pay partner. With charge points located across the country at convenient destinations and plans for significant expansion, EVC is most welcome as the latest addition to the rapidly expanding Zap-Pay partner network – this partnership is great news for electric car drivers.

"Zap-Pay is our simple way to pay for charging across networks from within the Zapmap app. Zap-Pay avoids the hassle of using multiple apps across different networks, giving you one place to pay, wherever you go. More partner integrations and announcements around Zap-Pay are to follow soon.”

Manjit Notay, CTO at EVC, said:

"At EVC, our primary focus is to simplify the charging experience and make it more accessible. Our partnership with Zapmap will give EV drivers the confidence to easily locate, charge, and pay for their sessions.

"We have some great locations nationwide and many more launching soon. This will further help provide confidence to make the EV switch simple.

"We are committed to driving the UK’s EV adoption at a rapid pace and this partnership is one of many that will enable us to develop our network even further.”
