IONITY and Holiday Inn Doncaster have announced a partnership to launch a public electric vehicle (EV) High-Power charging (HPC) station in Doncaster. This is the first of six planned across the UK, with new locations to be rolled out throughout the year and in 2025.
Located on the A1(M) corridor at Jct. 36, the site is equipped with six 350kW HPC stations and offers amenities for EV drivers, hotel guests, and the public including a Proud to Serve Starbucks, a gym, workspaces with WiFi, and essential facilities like toilets.
The partnership between IONITY and Holiday Inn Doncaster A1 Jct.36, is designed to meet the evolving needs of modern travellers who are increasingly looking for convenient, sustainable options on the go. By integrating high-power EV charging with hotel services, the site creates a versatile space that serves not only overnight guests but also EV drivers and travellers, setting an example of leading sustainable hospitality.
“We are excited to launch our first site with Holiday Inn in Doncaster A1, bringing together high-power charging, hospitality, and a welcoming space for everyone," said Andreas Atkins, IONITY's Country Manager for the UK and Ireland.
"This innovative partnership represents a new chapter in the way we think about sustainable travel, making EV driving easier and more convenient while also creating community hubs that everyone can enjoy.”
Of the more than 71,000 charging devices on Zapmap, over 3,500 of them – as of April 2024 – are associated with hotels or very similar accommodation.
“We are proud to partner with IONITY to bring high-speed electric vehicle chargers to Doncaster. This initiative aligns perfectly with our strategy of supporting innovation and advancing our commitment to sustainability," said Dr Sanjiv Patel, CEO of Mayfield Hospitality and Westgate Healthcare, and Owner of Holiday Inn in Doncaster.
