IONITY and Charlestown Shopping Centre have opened Ireland’s largest electric vehicle (EV) High-Power charging (HPC) station. The Dublin site represents another milestone in the country’s mission for 40% of cars to be electric by 2030 and IONITY’s to make long distance travel with electric vehicles the norm, bringing fast and convenient electric charging to more drivers.
IONITY is delivering 12 350kWh EV chargers to the site, conveniently located only a two-minute drive from Junction 5 of the M50 – the busiest motorway in Ireland.
Drivers can benefit from a 10% to 80% charge in less than twenty minutes or take longer to explore the enviable blend of retail brands, restaurants, and entertainment providers across the 188,000ft site, with 24/7 access to the charging bays.
“Charlestown Shopping Centre is delighted to work with IONITY and to lead the way in supporting Ireland’s transition to a more sustainable future,” said Dan O’Connor, Centre Manager at Charlestown Shopping Centre.
“With the installation of these 12 IONITY Fast Chargers, we are proud to offer the largest EV charging hub in Ireland. This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to promoting Sustainability, reducing our carbon footprint, and enhancing the shopping experience for our customers.”
IONITY and Zapmap share a live data partnership, this means that users of the Zapmap app and web map can access the live status and availability of IONIY charge points at any time, enabling even easier charging sessions.
“From its sustainability targets to the rollout of EV infrastructure across Ireland, the country is clearly taking its obligations to both people and planet seriously,” commented Andreas Atkins, Country Manager for UK&I at IONITY. “With 115,000 drivers on the M50 every day, providing an EV charging station is hugely important if we’re going make EVs the norm across Europe.
“The installation of such an impressive charging site at a place like Charlestown Shopping Centre should be a sign to others that EV charging is affordable, attainable, and beneficial – not just to road users, but to local businesses and residents in the surrounding area.”
Visitors can also enjoy a one-of-a-kind photo opportunity with an IONITY EV charger wrapped in the Irish flag at the centre’s new HPC station.
